The President of South Ossetia, Alan Gagloev, announced his resignation and transition to a position at the Kremlin. His resignation came a week after a Russian official was made prime minister of South Ossetia following the signing of an agreement described by Gagloev as the ‘beginning of the reunification of the Ossetian people’.
