KYIV — In one of the deadliest and most intensive aerial bombardments in months, Russian forces launched a massive barrage of over 600 drones and dozens of advanced missiles early Tuesday, targeting Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, and the central city of Dnipro. The devastating assault killed at least 18 people—including six in Kyiv and 12 in Dnipro—and wounded more than 100 others, according to Ukrainian authorities. The attack follows explicit warnings from Moscow’s Foreign Ministry of systematic, retaliatory strikes against Ukrainian ‘decision-making centers’ and military command posts, following recent Ukrainian drone strikes targeting Russian oil refineries and occupied territories. As air raid sirens echoed across the country, over 41,000 terrified residents in Kyiv sought refuge in underground metro stations. The strikes knocked out power to over 140,000 residents and damaged critical civilian infrastructure, including medical facilities, residential buildings, and schools. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who had warned of the imminent assault, renewed calls for advanced Western air defense systems and long-range missiles to counter Russia’s relentless hypersonic and drone campaign.

Chilean authorities arrested 19 people, including a bank employee, in a major operation targeting an alleged money-laundering network linked to the Tren de Aragua criminal gang. Investigators said the group used bank accounts and cryptocurrency transactions to move nearly $84 million out of the country. The suspects, all Venezuelan nationals, face charges including money laundering, extortion, smuggling, and criminal association.
