CurseForge is a website which hosts various different mods. It was originally made by Curse, and I’m uncertain how much Minecraft Forge affected their name (might be a direct reference, might be totally accidental). Curse got bought by Twitch, who later sold it to Overwolf. Minecraft mods have been using it since around 1.7.10.
