Iran has accused the US of violating the ongoing ceasefire after American forces carried out air strikes on Iranian vessels and missile launchers. Yet Tehran remains optimistic about talks to finalize an agreement with the US to extend the ceasefire and potentially reopen the Strait of Hormuz. But what is the feeling in the US? Has the war damaged Trump and could Iran secure a deal it can sell as a win? We spoke to DW’s Washington Bureau Chief Ines Pohl and Professor Thomas Juneau, an expert in Middle East security and intelligence at the University of Ottawa’s Graduate School of Public and International Affairs in Canada.

Anti-ICE protests outside a Newark immigrant detention center have grown increasingly violent after lefty politicians, including NJ Gov. Mikie Sherrill, fanned the flames of far-left “rioters,” who clashed with officers attempting to blockade the front entrance of the facility on the fifth day of demonstrations. Protesters were filmed Tuesday grappling with officers over plastic barriers they were attempting to use to block a large white truck from leaving Delaney Hall, which has been the scene of chaotic demonstrations since the weekend.

Russia is warning Ukraine and any representatives of foreign countries that its assaults will become more deadly as they aim to launch systematic strikes on Ukraine’s military industrial complex, decision-making centres and all sites that pose a threat.
The Kremlin claims its actions are in retaliation for Ukraine attacking a college in Russian-occupied Ukraine. Meanwhile Kyiv says it struck an elite drone school.
As Nathaniel Dove reports, some analysts believe the spate of recent assaults could be a sign of Russian weakness.
