BLUF: AFU drone doctrine continues to evolve. A Ukrainian FP-2 strike drone is seen firing eight FFAR (Folding Fin Aerial Rocket), НУРС (Некерована Авіаційна Ракета Снаряд), munitions at a target prior to striking it. Prior photographic evidence indicates the FP-2 carries two quad rocket pods, one under each wing.

Magyar: “Birds of the SBS have begun employing unguided rockets from long-range drones at operational depth of up to 500 km, together with a 60 kg warhead from the strike drone.”

Additional kinetic damage to target infrastructure is one obvious tactical advantage. Another is that the incoming rockets will force air defense personnel to take cover during the drone’s terminal approach.

This day in 1943, the legendary B-17 Flying Fortress “Memphis Belle” completed its 25th combat mission over Europe, a milestone few bomber crews survived in WWII.

After returning home, the aircraft and crew toured the US to help sell war bonds and boost morale on the home front. Today, Memphis Belle is preserved at the National Museum of the USAF.  #WW2
