The Kremlin’s apparatus has been aggressively expanding its reach from the public square directly into the most intimate spheres of its citizens’ lives.On the “bedroom” front, the state’s classification of the international LGBTQ+ movement as an “extremist organization,” along with sweeping laws against so-called “non-traditional sexual relations,” has effectively criminalized private identities. It is a textbook authoritarian maneuver: legislating morality to create an ever-present internal enemy and justify wider state surveillance.
As for the “bookshelves,” the censorship regime has moved far beyond just blocking independent news outlets. Libraries and bookstores are systematically purging works by authors designated as “foreign agents,” and literature is increasingly scrutinized for subversive themes or violations of the state’s rigid new moral codes. When a government dictates what you are allowed to read and who you are allowed to love, the boundary between the state and the individual is completely erased.

A detective broke down his investigation into the murder of Michael Harding, who turned up dead in Kentucky in 2022. The detective mentioned that Julie Harding, Michael’s wife, withdrew a large sum of money from their accounts prior to filing for divorce. Julie is also said to have hired Thomas O’Donnell to kill her husband. The detective revealed that there were over 100 phone calls between Julie Harding and Thomas O’Donnell.
