the Terrace and the Con course.
The Guests had to clear security at the bottom of the stairs just to access the ballroom, which held the President, the First Lady, and top government officials.
So how did the shooter bypass these checkpoints
Well He simply flew in from California and checked in as a regular hotel guest.
Security was full of blind spots—including zero luggage screening at the front doors.
When he finally hit the main checkpoint, he charged in guns blazing, carrying a shotgun, a pistol, and several knives.
It begs the question:
What if he hadn’t been stopped
Had the Secret Service failed on those stairs, the assassin would have made it to the ballroom.
Walking freely right through this passage, he almost certainly would have wiped out the entire American leadership.
