In this episode of Breaking Ground with Swati Joshi, the focus is on voting underway in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. In West Bengal, Phase 1 polling is being held across 152 of 294 assembly seats, with 1,478 candidates, over 44,000 polling stations, and more than 3.6 crore voters, including around 1.85 crore men and 1.76 crore women. Tamil Nadu is witnessing single-phase polling, recording a 70% voter turnout till 3 PM, comparable to over 70% in 2021. In West Bengal, voter turnout stood at 78.77% till 3 PM in Phase 1.
