News 12 cameras were inside the courtroom as Rex Heuermann, identified by prosecutors as the Long Island Serial Killer, pleaded guilty in the Gilgo Beach murders. During the court proceedings, Heuermann admitted responsibility for the killings of Megan Waterman, Amber Costello, Melissa Barthelemy, Maureen Brainard‑Barnes, Valerie Mack, Sandra Costilla, Jessica Taylor, and Karen Vergata. It was also announced that, as part of his plea deal, Heuermann agreed to cooperate with the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit.
