In addition to comments on Russo-Hungarian cooperation, Hungary’s incoming prime minister, Peter Magyar, said that while he supports the Kremlin’s decision to continue pragmatic relationships with Hungary and would take a call from Russian President Vladimir Putin, he currently has no intention to call his Russian counterpart. Should such a call take place, Magyar said that he would urge President Putin to end the war in Ukraine.

According to Hungary’s incoming prime minister, Peter Magyar, Hungary-Russia cooperation ventures, including energy cooperation, will be dismantled or continued on a case-by-case basis, adding that as it relates to Hungarian energy imports, Hungary will be seeking to diversify at scale to mitigate the impact that conflicts like the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian War have on the Hungarian economy.
