Israel and the US have launched a series of coordinated attacks on Iran.
Explosions have been heard in the capital Tehran, and local media are reporting nationwide missile strikes. Witnesses say they’ve seen smoke rising near the offices of the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who has not been seen in public for days. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard says it has launched a first wave of drones and missiles targeting Israel.
In Israel, sirens have been ringing out across Jerusalem, where authorities have issued “an extremely serious alert”. These are pictures of Jerusalem that you’re seeing now. Israel’s defense minister has declared a state of emergency for the whole country.
