Some more on the CPB drone shoot-down.
According to Reuters, citing unnamed congressional aids, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) barred flights over Fort Hancock, Texas and surrounding areas due to the accidental shoot-down of a government drone by a military counter-unmanned aircraft system (C-UAS). The drone, a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) drone, was flying in an area characterized increased cartel drone traffic near the Mexico-U.S. border. According to the FAA, the incident did not impact commercial flights. This is not the first incident involving the targeting of a friendly and or non-threatening aerial object by laser-based C-UAS positioned near the border and/or at C-UAS training ranges near CPB areas of  operation, as lawmakers continue to push for increased coordination between the military, CBP, and the FAA in order to mitigate the frequency of such incidents.
