Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has admitted that the state’s guarantee schemes have become a burden on everyone involved. Speaking to the press, he acknowledged shortcomings in the ‘so-called Khatakhat model’ and said benefits are still being drawn in the names of deceased individuals. However, he clarified that the government has no plans to stop or review the scheme anytime soon.
