Georgia has sent generators to Ukraine as humanitarian aid and earlier extended a financial support program for Ukrainian citizens residing in Georgia who entered the country after Russia’s full-scale invasion of their country.

On December 29, Georgia’s Economy Ministry said the state-owned JSC Georgian Energy Development Fund had sent nine generators of various types and capacities to Ukraine. The equipment is expected to reach Ukraine by land within several days and will be handed over free of charge via the Georgian Embassy in Kyiv.

Separately, on December 26, the Georgian Dream government extended a support program for Ukrainian citizens and holders of Ukrainian permanent residence who entered Georgia after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Under the scheme, Ukrainian families receive GEL 300 (about USD 110) per month, while individuals receive GEL 45 (about USD 16). Georgian Dream Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze signed a relevant amendment to a July 2022 decree extending the program until April 1, 2026.

The 45-GEL monthly subsistence allowance will be discontinued for individuals who become eligible for monthly assistance under Georgia’s Law on International Protection or who leave the country. The 300-GEL family payment will likewise be terminated if all family members leave Georgia.
