The names of those behind the railway sabotage near Warsaw have been revealed. Poland is now demanding their extradition from Belarus.
According to Polish authorities, the attacks were carried out on the instructions of Russian intelligence services.
Onet reported that the railway sabotage ordered by Russia was carried out by Yevhen Ivanov (41) and Oleksandr Kononov (39), both Ukrainian nationals.
According to the outlet, they were the organizers of the operation and stayed in Poland for only a few hours, while the perpetrators have already been detained.
The Foreign Ministry, however, doubts that Belarus will cooperate. As an example of Minsk’s lack of willingness to engage, officials pointed to another high-profile case: Belarus is still holding the suspected killer of Polish soldier Mateusz Sitek, who died from a stab wound at the border in June 2024.
