🇺🇸🫡 Former Director of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, General David Petraeus, says now is an ideal opportunity to actually dismantle Russia’s war economy and punish those who enable the continuation of the war.
↘️ In an interview with Welt, Petraeus noted that Ukraine’s strikes on Russian oil refineries are already contributing to the collapse of Russia’s economy, but that measures are also needed against entities that buy Russian gas and oil, as well as against those who sell components, chips, and spare parts to Russia’s military-industrial complex — supplies that allow Moscow to continue producing weapons, munitions, and similar products.
↘️ Petraeus also said that next year Russia’s National Welfare Fund will be completely depleted of financial resources, so now is the time for Europe and America to impose new sanctions.
🗣️ “If we combine all these measures — Russia’s war economy will be destroyed. If we punish those who enable the continuation of the war and back Ukraine even more strongly than before, it will change the dynamics on the battlefield. After that, Putin will finally understand that this is a war he cannot continue. He will then have to seriously negotiate how to end the hostilities.”
