Authorities in Utah County, Utah announced seven charges today against 22-year-old Tyler Robinson in the murder of conservative commentator and media personality Charlie Kirk last week during a speaking event at Utah Valley University. The charges include aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm, obstruction of justice and witness tampering, according to a 10-page charging document, with the document presenting several pieces of evidence linking Robinson to the crime, including a confession to his parents and a roommate as well as his DNA being found on the trigger of the rifle used in the shooting of Kirk. Prosecutors state they will seek the death penalty for Robinson, who appeared in front of a judge for the first time on Tuesday.

Charging documents show the suspect confessed in a series of messages sent to his roommate after the attack. Robinson’s mother said he had become more political and leaned left, “becoming more pro-gay and trans-rights oriented.” Robinson “began to date his roommate, a biological male who was transitioning genders,” his mother said, according to court documents. #CNN #News
