Suffolk County police said the department is searching for a man who allegedly tried to lure a teenage girl into his car near West Babylon High School Thursday afternoon. School and police officials said the incident happened at the intersection of Arnold Avenue and Elmwood Road which is less than half a mile from the school building. District officials said the driver asked the student to get into the car before he got out and attempted to get the teen inside. The girl broke free, ran down the block and began knocking on neighbors’ doors. In a message to the community, West Babylon Deputy Superintendent of Schools Shawn Hanley described the suspect as a white man in his 20s with a beard and mustache, brown hair and wearing a black Nike sweatsuit.

Police search for man who tried to lure West Babylon High School student into his car | News 12
Two Russian oil tankers have taken heavy damage amid a storm in the Kerch Strait, spilling oil and sparking an emergency rescue operation, Russian officials told state news outlets Sunday. The Volgoneft-212 tanker, which was carrying a crew of 13 and a cargo of fuel oil, ran aground and had its bow torn away, said Russian state news agency TASS, citing the country’s Emergency Situations Ministry. A second tanker, the Volgoneft 239, was also damaged in the storm and left drifting in the same area with 14 crewmembers on board, the Emergency Situations Ministry said.
Finnish advocacy group Oikeutta Elaimille and Humane Society International have released images taken from an “undercover investigation” at three fur farms which they say shows the behind-the-scenes realities of the fur trade. But fur farming group FIFUR said the images were “selective”, and that the industry has the “highest welfare standards of any form of animal husbandry.”
