In the ongoing Parliament Winter Session, Sambit Patra launched a scathing attack on Congress. Addressing the Sansad, Patra said, ‘I request you to read the Nagarwala case today. We are standing in Parliament, and I want to bring to your attention a famous case from 1971. On May 24, 1971, there was a phone call to the parliamentary branch of the State Bank of India. The call was answered by Mr. Malhotra, the bank manager, who heard the voice of Mrs. Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister…’ He further added, ‘…Indira Gandhi instructed him to withdraw sixty lakh rupees from the bank and give it to Nagarwala. Later, the Reddy Commission was formed to investigate the issue. Though Indira Gandhi’s name was not mentioned, she was never fully cleared…’ He concluded by saying, ‘…The Nagarwala case remains a thrilling and mysterious story of banking fraud during Indira Gandhi’s time, involving the phone banking system.’ Watch the video to know more!
