Through U.S. mediators, Israel has notified that it will stay in southern Lebanon for longer than stipulated in the 60 day ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah. Israel says it will need 90 days instead or even to April. The main issues are that Israel still needs to destroy Hezbollah terror infrastructure and that the Lebanese Army has only sent in 25% of the troops to southern Lebanon that it should have according to the truce. Hezbollah’s Secretary-General Naim Qassem reacted angrily to the news, saying ”Our patience just might run out even before the 60-day truce ends. There’s no guarantee that we will tolerate Israel’s violations of the ceasefire”
