Babak Mirza’s father was born in Baku.“My father was born on May 1, 1922, in Baku. Since he was an Iranian citizen, in 1938 our family was forcibly deported to Iran by the NKVD.
We belong to the Qajar lineage. My father did not find peace in Iran during the Pahlavi era. In 1956, with only 100 US dollars in his pocket, he left for West Berlin. I was born in 1970 in West Berlin. My wife was also born in Berlin.”The prince’s wife, Leyla Mirza, is also of Turkic origin. They have two children.
