Finnish authorities suspect the crew of the Russian oil tanker Eagle S of sabotaging undersea power and communication cables in the Baltic Sea. The vessel, seized on Dec. 26, dragged its anchor for over 100 km, damaging the Estlink 2 power line and four telecom cables. At the time of its seizure, the vessel was threatening to cut a second power cable, Estlink 1, and the BalticConnector gas pipe between Finland and Estonia. Finland initially barred eight of the 24 crew members from travel, now increasing the number to nine, focusing on those responsible for navigation and anchor operations.
