Israel has intensified its bombing campaign in Lebanon, prompting Iran to warn it could withdraw from the ceasefire agreed with the US. Hundreds have been killed since the agreement was announced, after Israeli forces launched mass strikes on densely populated areas. Israel says the strikes are aimed at the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah, while Iran claims they are a blatant violation of the ceasefire. A fire broke out Wednesday morning at Rio de Janeiro’s Olympic Park velodrome, prompting a major emergency response involving about 80 firefighters and 20 vehicles, authorities said.
Rio state military fire department said the blaze was under control and largely confined to the venue’s fabric roof.
There have been no reported injuries, and the interior of the building — including the Olympic Museum — remained untouched.

A deadly Israeli strike in Gaza has sparked a major controversy after it killed an Al Jazeera journalist — with the Israeli military claiming the target was linked to militants.
The incident has raised serious questions about press safety in war zones, as well as competing narratives over who was actually targeted in the strike.
Al Jazeera has strongly condemned the killing, calling it a deliberate attack on journalism, while Gaza authorities say journalists continue to face increasing risks amid ongoing military operations.
On the other hand, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) maintain that their operations are aimed at militant targets, including members of armed groups operating within civilian areas.
