Iran Under Attack: Fears for global economy as oil tankers targeted

As rockets continue to rain down across the Middle East, oil tankers have been targeted in a key shipping lane off Iran, the Strait of Hormuz. It’s raised fears of the global economic impact of the conflict. Thousands of flights have also been suspended across the Middle East, after Iranian missiles hit airports.

US President Trump has announced the death of three service personnel as he says American combat operations will continue until all its objectives have been achieved.

Iran’s capital Tehran has again been the main target with authorities there saying hundreds of civilians have been killed. A hospital has been hit.

It follows confirmation by the Iranian regime that the country’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei had been killed. Opponents of the regime have celebrated on the streets, while mass demonstrations of supporters have held rallies threatening vengeance.

Iran has been continuing to strike back, with more rockets hitting Israel. Nine people were killed in the city of Beit Shemesh.
