Dr. Mohammed modather explains how the UAE’s military intervention in Yemen began in 2015 to combat terrorism, and its efforts led to a major blow to Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, as well as reducing the Houthi influence in southern Yemen.
He is an Associate Professor of International Relations at the Centre for West Asian Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and a former Senior Fellow at the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses in New Delhi, close to the Indian Ministry of Defence. He holds a PhD in Middle East Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University.
