Another Polish volunteer soldiers has been killed in battle against the Russian Army.
28-year-old Kacper Bass, also known as “the Frenchman” has died from wounds sustained in battle of New Year’s Eve.
He received his nickname from having served in the French Foreign Legion.
Kacper had a reputation of being an eccentric soldier, who liked to storm Russian positions when his own unit was under very heavy fire, claiming that the enemy expected an attack the least at exactly such moments.
He was wounded while holding ground in a bunker with together with another soldier, who was also seriously injured and is in a medically induced coma.
Kacper fought in Ukraine for the past 3 years, having previously fought throughout the Battle of Bakhmut and also inside Russia’s Belgorod region during cross-border raids.
He had spent most of 2024 and 2025 fighting in the Battle of Toretsk.
