On January 4 – 5, 2026, Ukrainian forces carried out multiple drone attacks on the JSC Energia factory in Yelets, Lipetsk region, Russia. The facility was previously struck on May 23, July 3, and July 15, 2025.
The assault involved multiple waves of kamikaze drones, with at least four impacts on production workshops. Explosions, fires, and heavy black smoke were observed across the site.
The plant is Russia’s leading producer of specialized lithium-ion batteries and chemical power sources. These components are critical for guidance systems used in Iskander and Kinzhal ballistic missiles, UMPK (FAB) glide bombs, UAVs, electronic warfare systems, and other military hardware employed extensively in Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Swiss investigators have identified the bodies of sixteen more of those who were killed in a bar fire on New Year’s Eve in the Swiss ski resort of Crans Montana.
