Arizona Democratic Senators Mark Kelly and Ruben Gallego got into it with House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) Wednesday over the lingering government shutdown.

The two Democrats expressed dissatisfaction with Johnson not having sworn in newly elected Rep. Adelita Grijalva (D-Ariz.), who would be the last vote necessary for a bipartisan discharge petition to release files held by the Department of Justice about deceased sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.

Gold prices are reaching a record high now topping $4,000 an ounce for the first time ever. NBC News’ Steven Romo reports that while the value normally surges during chaotic economic times, the stock market seems to be doing well.

It’s the issue at the center of the government shutdown: subsidies for ACA healthcare plans that expire at the end of the year which will send premiums soaring for millions of Americans. Democrats want to negotiate an extension for the subsidies before voting to reopen the government and now GOP Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene also says something needs to be done. NBC News’ Christine Romans reports.
