Trump Urges End to Gaza War, Denies U.S. Will ‘Abandon’ Israel
(TJV NEWS) The White House said Monday that President Donald Trump is pushing for a swift end to the Gaza conflict, rejecting claims that his administration is threatening to abandon Israel if it doesn’t halt its military campaign.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump “has made it very clear he wants to see this conflict in the region end,” while also reaffirming his demand for Hamas to release all hostages. The statement came in response to reports that the U.S. was considering pulling support from Israel unless it changed its approach in Gaza.
Netanyahu responded to mounting American pressure by saying he would consider ending the war if Hamas disarms, its leaders are exiled, Gaza is demilitarized, and the remaining hostages are freed — conditions Hamas has rejected unless Israel fully withdraws from Gaza.
Reports in The Washington Post citing an unnamed source suggested the U.S. might withdraw support if the war drags on — a claim strongly denied by U.S. officials, including Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, who called the report “nonsense.”
A senior official told The Times of Israel that while policy differences exist, “the idea that we would abandon Israel is preposterous.” The official also denied rumors of a secret deal behind last week’s release of American-Israeli hostage Edan Alexander.
Vice President JD Vance reportedly considered a visit to Israel but ultimately canceled the trip, citing logistical reasons amid concerns about the optics of supporting Israel’s expanded operations.
