Long Island teacher dies two days after suffering medical episode after school

A sixth-grade teacher at Albert G. Prodell Middle School in Shoreham died suddenly Thursday, two days after suffering a medical episode on campus in front of students. In a letter to the community, Shoreham-Wading River Superintendent of Schools Gerard Poole wrote, “Adrian Gilmore was not only a dedicated and passionate educator, but an outstanding coach, mentor and source of inspiration to many generations of SWR colleagues, families and students.” On Tuesday, district officials sent a message out to parents alerting them that a staff member had suffered a “medical emergency” after school hours at the middle school where students were present and witnessed the event. Suffolk County police said they responded to the school around 2:55 p.m. on April 22. Gilmore, who was not named at the time, was transported by Rocky Point EMS to John T. Mather Hospital in Port Jefferson. Officials have not shared more details about the incident or how Gilmore died. Read more here: https://bit.ly/3Yc5r2Y
