According to a release from the U.S. Treasury’s Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC), the U.S. has sanctioned the Yemen Kuwait Bank for “having materially assisted, sponsored, or provided financial, material, or technological support for, or goods or services to or in support of, Ansarallah [Houthis].” While this won’t be the first time that Houthi entities and/or individuals have been sanctioned by the Biden administration, this action comes amidst a slew of other last minute actions against adversary-actors around the globe and has left many wondering why such measures weren’t taken before.
