Predominantly lower income neighborhoods and those of color are seeing the biggest decline in traffic deaths over the past decade, according to the New York City Department of Transportation. The city’s DOT says since Vision Zero launched more than a decade ago, low-income neighborhoods saw a 34% drop in pedestrian deaths and neighborhoods of color saw a 26% drop in all traffic deaths.
