Queens woman arrested for leaving the scene in fatal Plainview hit-and-run

Nassau County police arrested a Queens woman and charged her for allegedly leaving the scene after fatally striking a pedestrian crossing Old Country Road in Plainview Wednesday evening. Veronica Marmol, 39, is charged with leaving the scene of an incident resulting in death. Police said the College Point resident was behind the wheel of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler traveling eastbound on Old Country Road when she allegedly struck a 38-year-old man before taking off. The victim, who has not been identified yet, was crossing Old Country Road near Floral Avenue and was died at the scene.
