Will latest climate deal empower poorer countries suffering from dangerous diseases?

Nations at the COP29 summit have managed to reach a deal on climate financing after two weeks of fraught negotiations. But many delegates have denounced the outcome, saying it falls far short of what’s needed. The final agreement — worth 300 billion dollars a year — will help developing countries deal with climate change. Wealthy countries who’ve historically been the largest emitters will lead the payments.

The effects of climate change make it a global health issue. Climbing temperatures and increasing rainfall promote the spread of dangerous diseases. In Bangladesh, dengue fever is becoming more common due to climate change.
